Cherington Parish Council Meeting 4 June 2024 – Starring ‘The Finances’

Cherington Parish Council will meet in the Village Hall as 6 pm on TUESDAY 4 JUNE.

All residents are welcome.

At this meeting we will be looking at the report from the independant Internal Auditor and any recommendations made regarding our financial management.

We will also be reviewing the accounts for the 2023/2024 Financial Year and completing the Annual Governance and Accountability Return. This information will be publically available on this website as required by statute.  Cherington Parish Council is exempt from External Audit as it’s income is less than 25,000.

The Annual Governance and Accountability Return will be published  and there will be a period of 31 working days, known as the ‘Public Inspection Period (PIP), in which any member of the public can ask to view the accounts and comment if they wish. The Notice of Public Inspection Period and the Guidance to members of the public about exercising the right to view these records, will be published after our meeting on the 4 June.  The PIP must by law include the first 10 working days of July. The precise dates will be published after the Parish Council meeting on the 4 June.

This may all seem rather dry stuff – but the money the Parish Council spends comes from your Council Tax and you are entitled to view the accounts and have a say in how it is spent. So if you would like to know what the Parish Council is doing with your money, come along next Tuesday 4 June.
