A Sunny Afternoon at Cherington Show!

Cherington Show 2023– a ‘postcard’ from the Clerk of the Parish Council

How lucky was Cherington Show with the weather yesterday?  It drizzled off and on during the morning but by ‘showtime’ at 1pm on Sunday 23 July, the sun was out and it was a lovely warm and sunny afternoon in the pictureque village of Cherington. And what a Show the Village put on!

There were stalls on the Village Green with bric a brac, cakes and very healthy plants for sale

An upmarket ‘Jumble Sale’ was in progress in a marquee in the Car Park by the Village Hall

The street was lined with stalls of food, books and interesting items for sale!

The Morris Men danced their way enthusiastically through the village.

There were displays in the Village Hall and the Church for the Flower Show. Entries were judged in the morning and there were some fantastic blooms, amazing vegetables, and wonderful ‘faery gardens’ in the Church (evidence of some very good gardeners, young and old). There was also some very creative artwork and vegetable animal creations made by childen on display in the Village Hall. The men did well with their cake making too!

The blacksmithing demonstration was well worth the visit, set in such an appropriate location amidst beautiful old cotswold stone barns.

And then there was the lavish Tea Tent!

And a VERY popular and well attended Dog Show which was a huge success again this year.

There was a category to suit most participants on two and four legs (the Agility Course called for as much effort from the owner as from the dog!)

Competition was fierce but luckily the entrants weren’t, so it was all just great fun for everyone.

Highly recommended!

All in all, I had a lovely afternoon.
